FERTILITY TREATMENT AT MATERNITY MATTERS
Our holistic approach to fertility treatment at Maternity Matters provides hope for couples who are unable to conceive naturally with a deep dive into their medical history and offers solutions with care, accountability and transparency making Maternity Matters your one-stop destination for all your fertility needs.
IN VITRO FERTILISATION (IVF)
One of the most popular and sought after treatments with a reasonably high success rate involves extracting eggs from the ovaries and combining them with the sperm from the semen provided by the partner or donor to initiate fertilisation. Once this process is complete and results in one or more embryos, they are then implanted into the uterus and await to undergo a pregnancy after two weeks.
INTRA UTERINE INSEMINATION (IUI)
Another popular treatment method with reasonable success, allows our doctors to extract sperm from the partner or donor, which is then taken to the lab for testing enabling our team to segregate the motile from the non-motile sperm and then inseminated directly into the uterus through the cervix using a very thin catheter. This process is done closer to the ovulation period allowing less time for the sperm to travel to fertilize the egg.
INTRACYTOPLASMIC SPERM INJECTION (ICSI)
Developed as a solution for low motility in sperm and one of the causes for male infertility, this process allows our team to collect or extract sperm from the partner or donor. Meanwhile, the matured eggs from the female are also extracted by the means of a laparoscope and taken into one of our sophisticated labs to inject the sperm directly into the egg and fertilization is expected to follow this process which may take around 3 to 5 days. The embryos are then placed into the uterus post fertilization using a thin instrument known as a catheter.
EMBRYO AND SEMEN CRYOPRESERVATION
In the event a previous IVF cycle or fertility treatment may have failed, excess embryos and semen samples are taken during the treatment cycle in order to preserve them for later to achieve pregnancy using another method if the former was unsuccessful. The process may be used by couples who wish to freeze their embryos or sperm so they can get pregnant at a later stage.

PMS (PREMENSTRUAL SYNDROME)

Amenorrhea is a condition characterised by the absence of menstruation or as one missing one or more menstrual periods. Common causes can be related to hormone levels but they can also be attributed to anatomical anomalies.
Many women have Dysmenorrhea, otherwise known as menstrual cramps during their menstrual periods which is characterized by throbbing pains in the lower abdomen.
It is estimated that one in every twenty women experience Menorrhagia which is heavy menstrual bleeding that lasts longer than 7 days. This condition can lead to anaemia and hamper your daily activities if left untreated.
POLYCYSTIC OVARY SYNDROME (PCOS)
Polycystic ovary syndrome is a hormonal disorder that is common among women during their childbearing years. Frequent menstrual periods or high levels of the male hormone known as androgen are signs of PCOS. Though the cause of this condition is unknown, early detection and treatment help prevent the risk of long-term complications such as diabetes and heart disease.
Uterine polyps are growths attached to the inner walls of the uterus. Overgrowth of these cells can lead to the formation of Uterine polyps which are generally benign although some can be cancerous. It could also lead to other health complications if left untreated.
Uterine fibroids are non-cancerous growths found in the uterus during childbearing years and can be detected during a pelvic exam. Symptoms may include heavy menstrual bleeding, frequent urination, pelvic pain or pressure, backache, menstrual periods lasting more than a week etc. If left untreated, they could lead to painful complications later.
This is a condition when the tissue that lines the wall of the uterus grows into the muscular wall and results in an enlarged uterus causing heavy and painful periods.
Endometriosis is a painful disorder where the tissue that is similar to the lining of the uterus, grows outside the uterus and is rarely found in other areas beyond the pelvic region. Symptoms may include painful periods, pain during intercourse, excessive bleeding, pain with bowel movements and one of the leading causes of infertility.
