Pranaam Hospital > Radiology
A Clearer picture of your health
From small niggles to developmental concerns to surgeries, your child's in the safest of hands.
Radiology is a branch of medicine that leverages imaging technology for the diagnosis and treatment of disease. The field encompasses two areas – diagnostic radiology and interventional radiology – both employing radiant energy to identify and treat the problem.
At Pranaam, the department of Radiology provides the complete range of the latest, high-quality diagnostic imaging tests and image-guided treatments in an environment that’s caring, safe and efficient. Our team of top radiologists, state-of-the-art machines and trained radiologic technologists, have seen Pranaam emerge as the best radiology services provider in Hyderabad.
Diagnostic Radiology
Every successful treatment starts with accurate diagnosis, and our experts take the time and care to get it right, even for difficult-to-diagnose and complex conditions. Our team of specialists listens to patients’ needs and evaluates their condition from every possible angle before developing the very best treatment plan for them.
The diagnostic images are used to:
- Diagnose the cause of symptoms
- Monitor how well the body is responding to a treatment the patient is receiving for the disease or condition
- Screen for various illnesses, such as breast cancer, colon cancer, or heart disease
Diagnostic radiology helps doctors see structures inside the body, and in many cases, early diagnosis can save lives, including those of patients diagnosed with cancer. In fact, practically every sector within the health care field relies on radiology, including Surgery, Paediatrics, Obstetrics, Oncology, Trauma-response, Emergency medicine, Infectious disease.
At Pranaam, our radiologists and physicists work with skilled technologists and nurses to efficiently provide imaging services, ensuring the test results are delivered quickly, and appointments scheduled in coordination.

- Ultrasound
Interventional Radiology
At Pranaam, interventional radiology is used to perform minimally-invasive image-guided procedures to diagnose and treat diseases in nearly every organ system. The aim is to use the least invasive techniques to minimize risk to the patient, lower pain levels, reduce recovery time and improve health outcomes.
Using imaging such as CT scans, fluoroscopy, MRI and ultrasounds, image-guided diagnostic and therapeutic procedures are performed on a wide range of diseases and organs of the vascular, gastrointestinal, hepatobiliary, genitourinary, pulmonary, musculoskeletal, and, the central nervous system.
Our interventional radiologists perform innovative treatments using state-of-the-art techniques and are often involved in treating cancers or tumours, blockages in the arteries and veins, fibroids in the uterus, back pain, liver problems, and kidney problems. Typically, patients are awake during these procedures, thereby eliminating many of the risks associated with open surgery, including stay in the hospital. In fact in many cases, minimally invasive image-guided procedures performed by interventional radiology have obviated the need for major surgery.

Tests & Scans
A mammogram is used as a breast cancer screening test to look for breast cancer in people who have no signs or symptoms of the disease. It can also be used to investigate breast problems, such as a suspicious lump or thickening, pain and nipple discharge.
An abdominal ultrasound can help the doctor see many organs in the abdomen, and is recommended to identify problems in body areas such as blood vessels in the abdomen, gallbladder, intestines, kidneys, liver, pancreas and spleen. It helps evaluate the cause of stomach pain or bloating and also check for kidney stones, liver disease, tumors and many other conditions.
A bone density test determines if you have osteoporosis, a disorder characterized by fragile bones that are more likely to break. The test measures the amount of calcium and other minerals in a part of the bone. The bones that are most commonly tested are in the spine, hip and sometimes the forearm.
A bone scan helps diagnose and track several types of bone disease, and it may be recommended if the patient has unexplained skeletal pain, a bone infection or a bone injury that is not visible on a standard X-ray.
A bone scan is also an important tool for detecting cancer that has spread to the bone from the tumour’s original location, such as the breast or prostate.
A Cardiac CT Scan uses intravenous contrast dye to visualize cardiac anatomy, coronary circulation and the larger vessels. It is used to evaluate heart muscle, coronary arteries, pulmonary veins, thoracic and abdominal aorta and the pericardium.
A fetal ultrasound or sonogram uses sound waves to produce images of a fetus in the uterus. It may be recommended to confirm the pregnancy and its location, determine the baby’s gestational age, confirm the number of babies, evaluate the baby’s growth, study the placenta and amniotic fluid levels, identify any birth defects, investigate any complications, perform other prenatal tests and determine fetal position before delivery
There's nothing blissful than hearing a child's laugh or watch them grow right before our eyes. It's another story when their health takes a different turn and our hearts ache while they lay incapacitated with a chronic disease or health condition.
