Cancers that affect the mucosal lining of the head and neck such as the mouth, throat or vocal cords are collectively known as head and neck cancers. These cancers can also begin in other parts such as the salivary hands, sinuses or muscles and or nerves in the neck and head. The risk factors for these types of cancers can range from a wide variety of reasons such as the use of tobacco, industrial exposure to wood dust, radiation exposure, which can be an underlying genetic disorder or hereditary.

Common symptoms may include a lump in the breast followed by peeling, scaling or crusting of the pigmented area of the skin on the breast and redness on the affected area.

People who smoke are at greater risk although other risk factors may be at play even for those who have never smoked in their lives – a family with a history of lung cancer that’s passed down from one generation to the next. Some of the common symptoms may include shortness of breath, cough that doesn’t go away, coughing up blood, chest pain, unintentional weight loss and headaches.

Symptoms may include blood in the urine, frequent urination, painful urination and back pain.

These can be detected at an early stage with timely screenings by your doctor. Factors that increase the risk of kidney cancer include obesity, smoking, hypertension or the risk is higher if close family members have had the disease and is passed down from parents to their offspring. The pancreas produces enzymes that aid digestion and hormones that control blood sugar. The abnormal growths that occur in the pancreas at the onset of this form of cancer can be either cancerous or non-cancerous and can be treated if detected at a very early stage before it spreads to other organs. Some of the symptoms may include abdominal pain that radiates to the back, unintended weight loss, jaundice, dark coloured urine, light coloured stools, itchy skin, blood clots and fatigue.
